Bon Monkee was born on a grey, rainy afternoon in Hyde Park.
I was watching dogs play in the rain, splashing through puddles, completely soaked but still full of energy. It made me realize: while we bundle up to stay dry, our dogs are often left out in the cold, with nothing to protect them. That’s when the idea clicked. They deserve something better, something that lets them be themselves, even on the wettest of days.
That moment stayed with me. I started thinking about what it would mean to design something better. Not just a coat, but a companion for wet days. Not bulky. Not restrictive. Something dogs could move in, play in, feel like themselves in.
Back home, I began sketching. It wasn’t about starting a brand, not then. It was about solving a simple problem with empathy and imagination. Slowly, Bon Monkee began to take shape, driven by curiosity, love for animals, and a deep appreciation for life outdoors, even in the rain.
The name is a nod to the monkeys at London Zoo in Regent’s Park. Clever, playful, and always a little cheeky. Like the city’s parks, Bon Monkee is where nature, animals, and everyday adventure come together. Each piece we create carries that spirit: practical protection, made with care, and always full of character.
Meet the Designer
I was born in Cologne, raised in Istanbul, and have called London home for nearly 10 years. From an early age, I was surrounded by fashion. My mom, a huge fan of Princess Diana, filled our home with fashion magazines, and I was always her little style project. Her keen eye for fashion sparked my own love for design.
I studied in both Istanbul and Milan, and I’ve worked as a fashion designer for some of the most respected couture brands. Along the way, I discovered my passion for print design, working with kidswear brands in London. I love the creative process playing with colors, patterns, and textures and it’s this love of design that drives me every day.
My experiences living in different cities and cultures have helped shape not just my aesthetic, but also my approach to design. It taught me that great design is about more than how something looks - it’s about how it feels, how it functions, and the story it tells. Bon Monkee is the result of a lifelong love for design, a soft spot for animals, and a spark of inspiration that came on a rainy afternoon in Hyde Park.
